COVID-19 Information

The COVID-19 pandemic had and partially still does impact most of the world in many unfortunate ways. For us it meant that Revision can not take place in its “natural” way from 2020 to 2022, with some slight relieve in 2022, where it was possible to hold several smaller real life satellite events in cooperation with awesome sceners around the world, that organized those gatherings.

While 2022 still showed several large waves of infections, the situation in Germany and most other countries in Europe did improve over the course of autumn and winter, which was not necessarily to expect as it is known since quite early in the pandemic, that colder weather usually fires up the waves as people tend to meet more inside.

With this positive trend ahead we finally feel confident again to be able to hold Revision 2023 in a way as we know it from before COVID-19 changed our lifes.

Situation and Measures

It is not to be expected, that the government or city imposes any specific restrictions onto us that would change the way Revision 2023 will be held in a drastic way. Thus, it can be said that Revision as such will take place “like before”. Still, we as the organizing team had to deal with COVID-19 in the context of Revision for three years and with the responsibility for an event in mind that gathers up to 1000 people in a single place for multiple days. Three times in a row we chose the safe side, even when it surely wasn’t easy.

So we want to have you keep in mind, that despite things currently looking good again, COVID-19 as such is neither over nor gone. It’s just (most likely) endemic and different. That “different” however allows us - together with your help! - to run Revision in a way that should make everyone feel safe and comfortable.

These are the measures by us and you that we offer or highly recommend:

  • Make sure to arrive healthy.
It may sound like a stupid thing to say, but Revision is a rather “closed” event and in order to avoid catching COVID during the event it is best to have everyone arrive without having it caught before. Thus…
  • …Self-isolate and test the week before
In order to actually arrive healthy we highly recommend that you try to isolate yourself the week before Revision as good as possible. We know, with everyday life having caught up in the past year again this is not always easy (especially not for folks with kids in kindergarden or school), but maybe at least try to not go to some excessive clubbing or afterwork drinks each day before Revision (also, you’ll get loads of drinks and dancing at the party!).
Additionally, please do run a series of daily self-tests 3 or 4 days prior to departure.
  • Wear masks during travel
We highly recommend that you mask up on your flight or train travels, even though most countries or transport operators don’t have such regulations in place any more. It’s really just a few hours after all!
  • Have your vaccination updated
Check the recommendations of your country and/or doctor concerning a COVID-19 vaccination and have it updated when appropriate.
  • Test during the event
We highly recommend to test daily during the event. Please bring your own tests, as we unfortunately will only be able to provide some base amount of tests.
  • Wear masks when appropriate
Nobody will think you’re strange when you want to wear a mask inside the party hall or in places where many people share very few space. Also, for any activities outside of the location (using public transport, visiting crowded places, etc.) it might be a good thing to do. We’ll provide some base amount of masks.
  • Show, how you feel
We’ll provide colored stickers or buttons so that you can show to others whether you’re fine with close contact or not
  • Practice good hygiene
While this always has been a good advice during events like Revision, try to practice good hygiene maybe even a bit more :-)
